Case List Collection Software Frequently Asked Questions

What are the acceptable abbreviations that I can use on my case list submission?

For a complete listing in pdf format, please click here.

Why does the case list that is to be submitted to The American Board of Ob/Gyn not contain the patient initials, patient number, or actual hospital name?

This is due to the HIPAA legislation, which states that certain patient information can not be supplied to anyone outside of the hospital administration. In order to comply with the new legislation, the examination copies which you will be submitting to The American Board of Ob/Gyn can not contain certain information and will not be printed on your examination copies of your case list.

How do I enter the number of ultrasounds, Doppler exams, and uncomplicated spontaneous deliveries into the software?

From the main Case List Software screen, click the Hospital button. On each of your hospitals, edit the hospital information and enter the information for the ultrasound, Doppler exam, and uncomplicated delivery information.

The ultrasound, Doppler exam, and uncomplicated Spontaneous delivery counts have all been entered on the hospital screen. However, they still won't print on the case list. What should I do?

Hospital ID 0 is reserved for your office practice and cannot be assigned to a hospital location. Therefore, any of the counts entered for Hospital ID 0 will only print on the Office Practice Case List and not on the Obstetrical or Gynecology Case List. Please double check to make sure that each Office Practice and Hospital listing contain the appropriate information for that individual location.

Where do I find my Case List ID number?

In July the exam department will mail you a letter stating your application status. If your application was approved, your Case List ID number will also be stated in this same letter. Until this information is received, please leave this blank and the software will let you enter in cases.

I've just gotten an update. But I've already entered in a lot of data into the previous version. Do I have to retype all of this work I've done?

No, the software is designed to automatically import all of your existing data into the newer version. However before you update your software, you may wish to perform a backup of your data using the Backup/Restore button located on the main Case List Software screen.

Where do I go to print the cases out for an individual hospital and the corresponding affidavit sheet?

From the main Case List Software screen, click the Print button. On the Print Selection screen, click the hospital materials button. This will bring up a Hospital Print Selection screen. Select the desired hospital from the pull down menu and click the Print button. All of your cases for that hospital will print immediately followed by an affidavit sheet for that hospital.

When I click the print button on the main Case List Software screen, I get a software order form. How do I get rid of this and obtain the ability to print out my cases?

This is happening because the software has determined that you have not purchased the software. If you feel this is incorrect, please double check the main screen and ensure that all blanks are filled in appropriately. If the order form still displays, please contact the board office for assistance with activation of the software.

The patient count on the hospital affidavit sheet shows a higher number of patients then that listed on the hospital case list.  Why is this occurring?

The hospital affidavit sheet counts all uncomplicated deliveries plus the complicated obstetrical patients listed and the complicated gynecology patients that occurred at the hospital as patients. (Even though uncomplicated deliveries are not listed individually on the case list, most hospitals still consider them as patients in their system.) If the number is still higher, double check to make sure that your uncomplicated spontaneous patients are not placed under the Uncategorized Cases in addition to the single count listed on the Hospital Screen.

Is there a version available for the Macintosh Environment?

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc. is unable to support the Case List Software in this environment. Therefore, no versions of this software are available for the mac.

Is there a version available for Windows 95?

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc. will provide a version of the 2008 Case List Software for the Windows 95 environment upon request.
