Challenges and Inequities in Maternal Mortality
For over two decades, maternal deaths have continued to increase in the United States - and many of them are the result of preventable causes. Data collected by the National Center for Health Statistics shows maternal mortality in 2019 was 20.1 deaths per 100,000 live births. According to The Commonwealth Fund, this maternal mortality rate is the highest among 11 of the world's high-income, developed countries. Read more
