Key Highlights
Same Total Number of CC Questions
Diplomates will answer the same total number of CC questions. We detail specifics of how this works in the ACE FAQs.
Fewer Part II Articles
Read fewer articles and answer 6 scored questions per article.
Personalized Questions
ACE questions are tailored to your clinical practice based on your selections made in the annual CC application.
No Time Limit
There is no time limit on answering ACE questions. You're given one attempt to answer each question.
Low-Stakes Assessment
ACE questions are unscored — no impact on CC performance benchmarks. Response data is collected solely to identify potential knowledge gaps, compiled into a year-end report with peer comparison. Performance data will not be used toward annual CC article or Performance Pathway scores.
Immediate Feedback
Immediate feedback is provided (correct vs. incorrect answers) with references and rationales.
End-of-Year Feedback
Includes peer comparison and overall feedback by ACE area.
No Change to Performance Benchmarks
Diplomates still must achieve 80% minimum to pass CC Part II articles yearly and 86% Performance Pathway score (aggregated over CC Years 1–5).
Completion Deadline
All ACE questions, along with all other CC requirements, must be completed by the CC completion deadline of November 15, 2026.

Tailored Content for Your Practice
ACE questions will be tailored to your clinical practice or, if you are not clinically active, to your areas of interest, based on your selections in the annual CC application. It is important to note that diplomates are committed to those specific ACE selections throughout the remainder of the year, but may change those selections in subsequent years.

Scoring and
Feedback
ACE questions are unscored and do not affect your annual 80% CC article requirement or your 86% performance pathway score.
Diplomates will receive immediate feedback on each response, whether correct or incorrect, along with supporting references and rationales to support learning. Diplomates will also receive an end-of-year report.
