The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) announces the departure of Susan M. Ramin, MD, Associate Executive Director of MOC, effective April 19, 2024. Dr. Ramin plans to return to her alma mater UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she will assume the inaugural role of Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Ramin started her seven-year career at ABOG on March 1, 2017. Prior to joining ABOG as a full-time staff member, she served as an ABOG specialty and subspecialty examiner, Division Member, and Director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division. She was also a member of the Board of Directors from 2009 to 2017.
During her time at ABOG, Dr. Ramin has also served as Chair of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Standards Task Force for continuing certification standards and the Committee on Continuing Certification. In addition, she has served as the Secretary-Treasurer on the ABMS Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee, as well as the chair of the Finance Committee of the ABMS Board of Directors, member of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee, and member of the Committee on Continuing Certification.
Dr. Ramin has demonstrated unwavering commitment to fulfilling ABOG’s mission, and ABOG would like to thank her for her contributions to the OB GYN continuing certification process and women’s health, and we look forward to a continued close relationship.

ABOG expresses its deep appreciation for Dr. Ramin’s dedication and leadership. The diplomates and the patients they serve have benefited through her attention to the MOC processes. She will be greatly missed at ABOG, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors and plan to maintain a close connection. A search for a new Associate Executive Director will be opened shortly.
