FAQs for General CC Topics

Once your payment has been submitted, your application will move into the review and approval process. This review may take up to 24 hours. Upon approval, you will receive an email notification and gain access to your annual requirements.

Please report issue via our Contact Us form. Select Technical Support for the Topic, then complete and submit the form.

We recommend starting by visiting our CC Dates & Fees page that goes into detail about your CME options.

Option 1 (ACOG member):

  • You are an active/current ACOG member.
  • You will earn 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits from ACOG at no additional cost upon successful completion of all CC requirements.

Option 2 (Non-ACOG member):

  • You are not an active/current ACOG member but want to earn CME.
  • A $450 payment for CMEs will be assessed by ACOG as the accredited CME provider.
  • You will earn 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits upon successful completion of all CC requirements.

Option 3 (Non-ACOG member):

  • You are not an ACOG member and either do not desire CME or are obtaining CME from another CME provider.
  • No additional cost.
  • Diplomates choosing to earn CME directly from another accredited provider must coordinate with the other provider directly.

It is important to note that ABOG is not a CME provider and does not require you to obtain CME or be an ACOG member. Diplomates are given the opportunity to earn CME from ACOG through successful completion of CC requirements. Accordingly, diplomates are asked to select their CME option when they apply for ABOG CC.

Diplomates typically elect CME from ACOG to satisfy other professional needs, such as credentialing or renewing medical licenses. Furthermore, you do not need to be an ACOG member to earn CME upon successful completion of all CC requirements. Non-members are welcome to earn CME from ACOG by electing CME from ACOG on their application and paying the non ACOG member fee at time of application. All CME fees paid when applying for ABOG are pass-through payments directed to ACOG as the CME provider.

No. All Continuing Certification requirements must be completed regardless of CME selection.

The date your ACOG membership dues are paid may affect which CME option appears in your application.

  • If your ACOG dues are current and were paid more than one week ago, please provide ABOG with the ACOG receipt. ACOG typically emails receipts; you may forward that email to continuingcert@abog.org. Upon receipt, we will process an override to ensure your account is updated.
  • If you paid your dues within the past few days, please allow up to three business days for processing. Once ACOG updates our system, your application and/or payment prompt will update automatically.
  • If your ACOG dues are not current and you wish to renew them, please contact ACOG directly by calling the Membership Division at (202) 863-2452.

All CME fees are paid directly to ACOG. To request a receipt, please contact ACOG at (202) 863-2452 or 1-800-673-8444.

Yes. Diplomates may switch their CME option one time based on the following conditions and all requests must be submitted in writing to continuingcert@abog.org.

  • If your request is submitted before the initial apply deadline, all fees must be paid on or before this date to avoid a service fee.
  • If your request is submitted between the first apply and final apply deadline, all fees including the service fee must be paid on or before the final apply deadline.
  • Requests submitted after all CC requirements have been completed will not be considered.
  • Requests submitted after the CC completion deadline will not be considered.

Yes. You may request additional CME, but the request must be submitted in writing at least 5 business days before the CC completion deadline. This timeframe allows for the following required actions to take place:

  • ABOG must add the extra CME to your account.
  • You must submit the required payment for the additional CME.
  • You must complete the additional articles requirement to earn the additional CME.

No, completion of the additional article questions does not count toward your scores.

Thank you for brining this to our attention. Please report the issue in detail using the Contact Us form. Select Continuing Certification as the Topic and Article-Based Assessment Questions for the Type of Inquiry.

No. Once you open the questions for a selected article, the quiz cannot be changed or removed. You may preview or download any free-access articles beforehand, but quiz questions cannot be previewed. When you choose to view the questions, the system will display a warning asking, "Are you sure you want to continue?" Selecting Yes confirms your choice and locks in that article and its associated quiz.

Please login to your ABOG Portal and click on your name in the upper-right corner. The requested documentation can be found under My Files. Select View next to the Completed Article List Reprint for the appropriate year. AIUM-accredited articles are identified as Ultrasound credit articles.

ABOG does not delineate CME credits. CME is awarded as a total based on completion of CC requirements. Acceptance of credits is determined by the individual state medical boards. Diplomates typically print their completed article list and highlight relevant titles for submission.

Please submit your refund request through the Contact Us form, include your ABOG ID, refund amount, and the reason for the request.

Please submit an inquiry via the Contact Us form. If applicable, an exemption may be approved, allowing you to maintain certification without a Part IV requirement.

We recommend starting by visiting the Inactive or Retired Diplomates page. To explore your available options further, please submit an inquiry using the Contact Us form.

Log into your ABOG Portal and click on your name in the upper-right corner, then click on My Files, then choose the year, and finally click on View to the right of the document you are looking for.
