The data in the graphic below presents a snapshot of diplomate status as of the end of 2025 and illustrates the number of diplomates who are: 

• Non-Time-Limited Diplomates (12,481) that achieved certification prior to 1987 and are not required to participate in CC* 

• Time-Limited Diplomates

  • Met all requirements for both participation and performance (38,522) 

  • Did not meet participation requirements and fell into a participation deficit group (1,102)* 

  • Did not meet CC performance requirements and fell into the performance deficit group (115). This group consists of diplomates who fell below assessment performance (score) thresholds and thus have an additional assessment requirement in 2026, which is to take and pass the Part III Exam.  View here for details on the Part III exam requirement.
