Application of Privacy Laws

ABOG is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynecologists (OB-GYNs) and offers continuing certification to OB-GYNs in the United States and Canada. 

ABOG is not a covered entity or a business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). ABOG may, in the course of its operations, receive protected health information as it is defined under Texas law. ABOG does not sell or electronically disclose protected health information. 

 

Collection of Personal Information

When you engage in certain activities on this website (“Site”), such as downloading software or Materials, ABOG, or other sites which are linked to this site, may ask you to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form. If you choose to engage in these activities, ABOG may require you to provide personal information, such as your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and possibly other personal identifying information.

When you provide ABOG with personal information through other channels, such as by opting into text communications, ABOG’s collection and use of such personal information is also covered by this policy. 

When you engage with ABOG’s chatbot assistant on this Site, ABOG collects your email address and ABOG’s collection and use of such personal information is also governed by this policy. 

It is completely optional for you to engage in some or all of the activities listed above. When you submit such personal information to ABOG, you understand and agree that ABOG and supporting third parties essential for operations and delivery of certification offerings, including necessary activities related to initial certification and continuing certification, may transfer, store, and process your personal information in its files. ABOG does not sell personal information it collects to third parties.

ABOG makes no representation whatsoever about any third party's use of any personal information that you may furnish to any such third party and, you will be required to deal with such third party's online privacy policy, if, and to the extent, that any such third party has such a policy.

The above statements regarding collection of personal information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

SMS Terms of Service

  1. ABOG offers voluntary board certification to physicians in the United States and Canada. This includes offering board exams as the initial step toward achieving certification and continuing certification to facilitate the ongoing education of all OB-GYN providers to ensure they deliver the latest evidence-based treatments. ABOG’s SMS/texting subscription service offers diplomates and candidates the opportunity to receive text notifications regarding application status, task/deadline reminders, and exam status relative to ABOG’s certification offerings. This service is completely optional.  

     

    For diplomates, these messages can include reminders about Continuing Certification requirements deadlines, notifications when the Continuing Certification application is available, and when a diplomate’s application is submitted but pending, as well as alerts regarding incomplete requirements that still need attention for completion. For candidates, messages can include notifications when an exam application is available, confirmation that an application was submitted but is pending and then approved, and alerts when case lists that were submitted for the certifying exam are in need of corrections.   2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the short code. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, please email us at info@abog.org, and we will resubscribe you.

  4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. 

     

  5. ABOG covers all message and data rates. Therefore, you can participate in our texting program at no cost to you. Message frequency will vary, depending on the certification activities and tasks you are participating in as an ABOG stakeholder.
