Retired Diplomate Status is defined by the ABOG as a diplomate who: A) has retired from clinical practice at a time when they were an active diplomate and, B) does not wish to maintain their board certification.
For more information on Retired Status or if you'd like to consider this option further before submitting the form, please refer to the CC Bulletin pages 23 and 24.
Please complete the form below if you would like to change your status from Active Diplomate to Retired Diplomate (not clinically active and not maintaining board certification).
Please read each statement below.
- I am no longer performing any function for which board certification is required.
- I have no current or pending actions with a state medical board, or any limitation actions taken against me by any state medical licensing board, institution or other government agency, or hospital/facility in which I practiced.
- I understand that if I decide to come out of the ABOG Retired Diplomate status to regain my board certification, and it has been less than six years, I will need to fulfill all requirements of the ABOG re-entry process.
- I understand that if I decide to come out of the ABOG Retired Diplomate status to regain my board certification and it has been for six or more years, the ABOG re-entry process is not an option, and that I would be required to sit for and pass both the Qualifying and Certifying Examinations.
If you cannot attest to all of the above statements, please email CredentialsSubcommittee@abog.org with your questions and an explanation. Please do not proceed with submitting this form.
