The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) is committed to taking progressive and actionable steps to help reduce disparities and advance health equity and access for all. This section of our website is dedicated to information that our organization will share about our progress within our role as an OB GYN certifying board.

We will continue to build on the information offered in this section to keep all of our stakeholders, as well as the general public, aware of actions we take to ensure that all candidates and diplomates whom we serve through the certification process are treated equitably.  Additionally, ABOG actions will continue to include offering articles and activities through our continuing certification program that may help further facilitate equitable health access for all patients.

Below is a link to key milestones tracking our progress thus far, and a link to a brief historical overview about J. Marion Sims and the experimentation he performed on enslaved women during the 1840s. We offer this history to honor these women and to provide perspective and some measure of historical context to conversations regarding medical ethics and patient care.

Additionally, below are direct links to special news content and details relative to ABOG's DEI activities. As more work is completed, expect to see additional content added to the news section.
