Practice Improvement is critical to maintaining modern and appropriate patient care. This is accomplished via assessment of the quality of care in a clinical or community setting, followed by changes in practices and/or processes when gaps are identified. Practice improvement activities recognized by ABOG include those that result in enhancements in patient or population health outcomes, access to health care, value of care, patient experience, and other key dimensions of health and healthcare.
This can include activities that result in:
- Improved patient or population health outcomes
- Improved access to health care
- Improved patient experience (including patient satisfaction)
- Increased value in the health care system
