- Log in to your dashboard in ABOG's portal.
- You will need your ABOG ID number. Obtain your ABOG ID number from your residency Program Manager.
- Applications are only accepted online and will be made available in your ABOG portal. See important deadlines and fees here.
- You'll need to pay the Qualifying Examination fee in full by credit card at the time of the application. All fees are quoted and must be paid in US dollars.
- If your name is listed differently on your government-issued ID, please fill out a name change request form if you want your name updated with ABOG. If you do not want to change your name with ABOG, but your name is listed differently on your government-issued ID, you will need to bring an official document that verifies your identity with you to Pearson Vue on your exam day. Examples could include but are not limited to a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court-ordered name change, etc. Please note, middle names are not a factor in the identification process.
- ABOG will send you a notification to the email address associated with your ABOG profile once you're approved to take the Qualifying Exam.
- The email notification will also have instructions for contacting a Pearson VUE Testing Center to schedule your seat for the exam. It's important that your email address and physical mailing address are current and correct.
- As soon as you get the ABOG email with approval and exam reservation instructions, contact Pearson VUE to secure your seat at a test center to take the exam. Seats at Pearson VUE Testing Centers in individual cities are limited and assigned on a “first-come, first-served” basis. See the Bulletin for the last day to reserve a seat at Pearson VUE before ABOG's seat block is released. Available spots will be open to all other test-takers after this date. Please reserve your seat as soon as possible. Refunds will not be issued if you are unable to secure your seat at your preferred exam center.
- If you need special accommodations for a disability, please Contact Us with your request no later than the close of the application period.
- If you're lactating, you can request a 30-minute break and extension of your exam if you notify ABOG no later than the close of the application period. Contact Us about a lactation accommodation once you have an approved application. You should not schedule your seat with Pearson VUE until ABOG sets up the lactation accommodation with Pearson VUE. After you receive approval of the lactation accommodation from ABOG, you will need to call Pearson Vue's Accommodation Department to schedule your seat to take the exam.
