Application Process

  1. Log in to your dashboard in ABOG's portal.
  2. You will need your ABOG ID number. Obtain your ABOG ID number from your residency Program Manager.
  3. Applications are only accepted online and are available on your dashboard in the portal beginning January 3, 2024. Late fees will apply for applications received after the February 16, 2024, deadline.
  4. March 1, 2024 is the final deadline for receipt of an application to take the July 2024 Qualifying Exam.
  5. You'll need to pay the Qualifying Examination fee in full by credit card at the time of the application. All fees are quoted and must be paid in US dollars.
  6.  If your name is listed differently on your government-issued ID, please fill out a name change request form if you want your name updated with ABOG. If you do not want to change your name with ABOG, but your name is listed differently on your government-issued ID, you will need to bring an official document that verifies your identity with you to Pearson Vue on your exam day. Examples could include but are not limited to a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court-ordered name change, etc. Please note, middle names are not a factor in the identification process.
  7. ABOG will send you an email at the email address provided during the application process once you're approved to take the Qualifying Exam.
  8. The same email will also have instructions for contacting a Pearson VUE Testing Center to schedule your seat for the exam. It's important that your email address and physical mailing address are current and correct.
  9. As soon as you get the ABOG email with approval and exam reservation instructions, contact the Pearson VUE Testing Center to secure your seat to take the exam. Seats at Pearson VUE Testing Centers in individual cities are limited and assigned on a “first-come, first-served” basis. April 26, 2024, is the last day to reserve a seat at Pearson VUE before ABOG's seat reservation lifts. Available spots will be open to all other test-takers after this date. Please reserve your seat as soon as possible. Refunds will not be issued if you are unable to secure your seat at your preferred exam center.
  10. If you need special accommodations for a disability, please submit that request to ABOG no later than March 1, 2024. Contact:  exams@abog.org.
  11. If you're lactating, you can request a 30-minute break and extension of your exam if you notify ABOG no later than March 1, 2024, (contact  exams@abog.org). You should not schedule your seat with Pearson VUE until ABOG sets up the lactation accommodation with Pearson VUE. After you receive approval of the lactation accommodation from ABOG, you will need to call Pearson Vue's Accommodation Department to schedule your seat to take the exam.  ABOG cannot guarantee that it will be possible to schedule an extended test.
