Fellowship Training Attestation FAQs
One of the eligibility criteria for the Subspecialty Qualifying Examination are the Fellow and Program Director Attestations.
At the end of training each fellow will be expected to attest to the following:
1. Compliance with the ABOG Professionalism, Professional Standing, and Professional Conduct Policy.
2. Met the educational objectives of their training program.
3. Have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to enter autonomous practice.
4. Have completed and defended a thesis that meets ABOG certification standards.
The Program Director attests, on behalf of the training program, to the fellows’ satisfactory performance, professionalism, competence, and successful completion of the required months of clinical experience.
Attestations will be available to both fellows and Program Directors starting June 1st and will be due no later than August 30th. Results of the examination will not be released until all fellow and Program Director attestations are complete.
A new attestation is not necessary for those candidates who have completed their fellowship training and state the Subspecialty Qualifying Examination in a prior year if an attestation has been previously received at ABOG.
The attestation statement will be a task on the fellow and current Program Director’s personal ABOG portal which can be found by logging on at www.abog.org, clicking on the Administrative Tasks tab, and selecting the attestation task. The attestation task will be available to both fellows and Program Directors starting June 1st and will be due no later than August 30th.
Attestations must be completed by both the fellow and Program Director for the fellow to receive their Subspecialty Qualifying Examination results which are released in October of the year of the exam.
