FAQs Concerning COVID-19 and 2020 Qualifying Exams

Yes. The 2020 Qualifying Examinations (QE) are still scheduled for June 26 (Subspecialty) and June 29 (Specialty). ABOG is monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 closely, and we will notify all involved if the QE exams must be rescheduled. Our primary concern is your health and well-being. 

As soon as you know that you are unable to attend your QE, please inform us by email at exams@abog.org. Please include your name, ABOG ID number, and a brief summary of the situation preventing you from participating in this year’s examination. You will be allowed to reschedule for the 2021 QE without additional exam fees. Your certification eligibility will be extended by one year.

If you have any possible exposure to COVID-19, please follow CDC guidance for healthcare personnel concerned about potential exposure and do not travel. Please inform ABOG as soon as you know that you are unable to take your QE by email at exams@abog.org. Please include your name, ABOG ID number, and a brief summary of your situation. When you take your QE at a Pearson Center you will need to follow the Pearson Vue guidance. If you have specific questions, please contact your local Pearson Vue test center. 

We will extend the period of eligibility for certification by an additional year for anyone that needs to postpone their QE due to COVID-19.
