Residency Training Affidavit FAQs

One of the requirements for sitting for the Specialty Qualifying Exam is a signed Residency Training Affidavit. The affidavit is signed by the Program Director, attesting to the resident's satisfactory competence and completion of the program.

The Residency Training Affidavit will be a task on the current Program director's ABOG portal. Program Directors will log in at www.abog.org, click on the Administrative Tasks tab and then select the Sign Training Affidavits task. The task will become available for the Residency Program Director in their ABOG portal for each resident 31 days prior to the resident's completion date.

The Residency Training Affidavit must be completed by the current Program Director for the residents test results to be released in October of the year of the exam. The resident's results from the Specialty Qualifying Examination will not be released to the resident until the Residency Training Affidavit has been completed for them.

If there is a resident in your program who has either transferred or withdrawn from the program, you will need to update their residency dates, program year completed, and status. Once you have updated this information, the Program Director will have the Sign Training Affidavits task available on their personal ABOG portal to complete under the Administrative Tasks tab 31 days prior to the resident's completion date.

If you encounter any problems or have any questions, please call the Exam Department at 214.721.7520 or email residency@abog.org. We'll be happy to assist you!
