Important Update Regarding 2020 Qualifying Exam and the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Exam

May 15, 2020 - Out of an abundance of caution for health and safety and to help ensure fairness to all candidates, the 2020 Specialty and Subspecialty Qualifying Examinations (QE) and the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Focused Practice Examination will be moved from the June dates to July 16, 2020.

The June exams were going to be limited to a 50% capacity restriction at Pearson VUE test centers for infection control and social distancing. This meant that more than 700 candidates would have their June exams cancelled.

ABOG was notified by Pearson VUE that they could accommodate all ABOG candidates at their original test locations on a new date, July 16. Candidates can all test safely on the same day at a Pearson VUE test center following appropriate infection control measures.

All candidates’ schedules have been transitioned to July 16. Pearson VUE has moved all candidates to the new date at the same testing center originally requested. We ask that candidates check their Pearson VUE accounts to ensure that their appointments have been moved. Candidates should contact Pearson VUE directly if their exam date has not changed to July 16.

Candidates unable to take the July exam at the original Pearson VUE center may change the location through their Pearson VUE accounts. It is important that candidates who need to change test locations do so as soon as possible to ensure the best chance of taking the exam at their preferred center.  ABOG has no control over capacity at centers.

Candidates who have approved exam accommodations and need to change location should contact the Pearson VUE Accommodation Department at 800-466-0450. Accommodation approvals do not transfer to a different test location, and they can only be assured after going through the accommodation department again.

If a candidate needs to request an accommodation now that the exam date has moved to July, please email the request to exams@abog.org. If a candidate already has an accommodation and is able to take the exam in the originally requested test site, no action is needed as the accommodation is still secure.

We apologize for the short notice about these unexpected changes and the disruption of plans for candidates. We had to act quickly to secure the July 16 date. We appreciate our candidates' patience and understanding as we try to maximize their opportunities to safely take the 2020 QE.
