Public Member Nomination

ABOG is committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in its governance, culture, and certification exams/continuing certification programs. This includes improving participation of physicians from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups among volunteers, examiners, and directors.

 

The Public Member should be able to represent the broad public interest and offer insight and expertise reflecting a firm understanding of, and support for, ABOG’s mission from a patient perspective. Preference will be given to individuals with a demonstrated interest in women’s health care, organizational leadership experience, knowledge and experience with health policy, and previous non-profit board experience.

 

Attributes and capabilities sought in the Public Member include:

  • In-depth knowledge and expertise which supplements that otherwise represented on the Board of Directors such as: business and finance, health policy, information technology used in health care settings, healthcare management, quality improvement science, or marketing;
  • Skills and experience that will help ABOG achieve its strategic agenda; and
  • Support for ABOG’s mission.   
  • Physicians, associated health professionals, and healthcare industry employees will not be eligible to serve as a Public Member.
  • ABOG recognizes the benefits inherent within a diverse community of officers and directors. In a desire to reflect this diversity, ABOG seeks individuals with varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds.
